Dawsonville, Ga., December 2, 2011 - Local State Park is hosting
home-grown artists and musicians during the annual Amicalola Falls State
Park and Lodge Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 10th from 4pm
to 9pm.

The artists will be demonstrating and discussing their art all evening.
There will also be original artwork to purchase for those
hard-to-please people on your gift list. Dahlonega resident Barbara
Cavender incorporates her handmade pottery pendants into her jewelry for
a unique piece of wearable artwork. Nancy Skinner will be traveling
from Blue Ridge to demonstrate her years of experience in basket
weaving. Gainesville resident Joe Weaver will bring examples of his
beautiful and useful woodwork.

The live music begins at 4pm with Talking Rock's own Constance
Corley, the voice of Christmas Cheer. Brendon Wilson, from Dahlonega,
will be performing his folksy style of Christmas music beginning at
5:30pm. Blairsville resident Nelson Thomas will be returning again to
delight guests with his blend of folk and Americana music starting at
7pm.

In addition to the art and music, the Christmas Open House has
activities to keep everyone in your family entertained. Free programs
include hayrides, kids' crafts, folk toys, holiday bingo, story time,
and the gingerbread house viewing & voting. A new addition to the
evening this year, the Amicalola Falls Relay for Life team will be
hosting a bake sale to raise money for the fight against cancer.

Amicalola Falls State Park is one of the most popular parks in the
state. It is located on Hwy 52 between Dahlonega and Ellijay. Parking
is $5 per car, unless you have a yearly park pass. Programs are free.
