I Am Scared of My Government

Originally Published Apr 1, 2009, 9:07am (Updated Mar 28, 2011, 1:44pm)

Before I start this column, I suggest you read my column I titled, “My Theory about Government Control” which appeared on February 24, 2009. It is almost imperative that you read that column to fully understand this column.

In my Theory column I stated, “If a government can cause a crisis in which only the government can solve, that government has an excellent chance to gain control of its society”. I then pointed out examples of how our Federal Government may have created the crisis we are in today so they could gain control of American industry and eventually American society. That includes the financial markets as well as the automobile industry and the electrical industry to mention just a few. I also stated that one can measure the validity of my theory based on what the federal government does in the future, as far as nationalizing American businesses, and the controls the federal government places on your lives.

Well, it seems in a few short weeks after my column appeared, my theory is becoming not a theory, but a fact based on current government actions. For example, the federal government has forced the CEO of GM to step down, and the federal government is positioning itself to send in a federal team to manage General Motors. Also, they are in the process of forcing Chrysler Motors to sell to an Italian company.

President Obama is possibly moving for the federal government to nationalize the electrical industry.  By his instituting impossible carbon emissions laws, he will force American electrical companies to take federal bailout monies to stay in business, then the federal government will gain control of the electrical industries much like the federal government is taking control of GM an d probably Chrysler. Or, Obama’s ridiculous carbon emission laws will force the electrical industry to charge so much for electricity that the public will be begging for a federal takeover. The Obama administration will be happy to oblige and be a hero to the public.

Timothy Geithner, the Treasury Secretary, is suggesting that he be given the power to take over any business in America which is facing a financial crisis. And, most of the members of the Democrat Party and some of the members of the Republican Party are going along with this craziness. Unreal!

To continue his potential take-over of our society, President Obama must remove any criticism of his policies in the media. Talk show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, local conservative talk show host Martha Zoeller, and other who do not agree with Obama’s policies will be silenced, or their message will be so watered down, you will not be able to tell whether they agree or disagree with Obama’s programs. Writers on the internet such as me, who understand Obama is a danger to the sovereignty of this nation, will also be silenced. Books, such as my book, “Where Roses Have No Thorns”, will be taken off the shelves and removed from the internet. Only books which support his programs will be available. Only newspapers which preach his greatness will stay in print.

When the American public is finally tired of Obama and his administration’s probable attempt to completely control their lives, there could be an uprising in the streets of this great country that has not been seen since the American Revolutionary War. Some circles are reporting that the Obama administration is training 80,000 American troops to counter any attempt by its citizens to take back their country. Even today in many American cities across this great nation, replica colonial Boston Tea Party demonstrations are taking place against Obama’s programs. Since Obama’s real tax program has not yet taken place, I can only imagine what the American public will do when they are taxed excessively by the Obama administration. Could outcries by true Americans who want their freedom from the federal government be slaughtered in the streets by American troops? Is President Obama attempting to take over this country and make himself another Chavez in Venezuela or a Castro in Cuba?

Ladies and gentlemen, I have been a soldier in foreign lands in time of war and I have not been scared. I have been in situations where I should have been scared and I was not scared. However, I never thought what would scare me would be my own government. And, I will admit I am more scared of the people in Washington than I have ever been scared of anything in my life.

What scares me is that one day, you and I just may wake up to find out we no longer are a free people who are allowed to fail or succeed based on our merits and our talents. You see, it is quite possible the people in power today just may the ones to decide your fate.

Am I really scared of my government? You bet your boots I am!

Your suspicions are more than just a hunch or even deductive reasoning - they are spot on!

Watch this youtube video on a "pulled" 60 minutes interview with then Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neil: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inyCkCvqRO0

Jim, I'm sorry that you and others like you are so scared. Maybe you should try investing in a safety blanket, sucking your thumb, or having your mother read a book to you before bedtime (preferably not the 'Turner Diaries,' cause we don't want you to wet yourself). Good luck.

Sincerely,

Being born in the United state, for the first time in my 54 years of living in this country, I am afraid to express my opinion regarding the government. I am afraid my free speech will land me on a watch list of right wing radicals and that I will be under scrutiny for my opinions. Where am I, Iran, Venezuela, China. I have NEVER been afraid to express my 1st amendment rights, until now. What is going on. Where are the people, where is the constitution. God help us.

"Ignorance is bliss."

Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

"We've got this under control." -Barack Obama

Yep...THAT'S THE PROBLEM! Too much centralized power. Although America was established upon a "John Locke" version - "incrementalism" has "we frogs in the water" awakening to Hobbesian Statism. That is the VERY THING that Madison, Jefferson, Franklin, etc "went to war over" to prevent.

atlpaddy, interesting that you are condemning those that have concerns and have fears yet you are afraid to list your name. Don't think coming back and boldly stating your name now makes any difference. You could not have set a better example of my point. Typical non-accountability that we see from liberals every day.

Sincerely,

Mike Romero

"An American Whose Not Scared of Democracy"

Well that's funny because America is not a Democracy, it is a Republic. You can always spot a liberal or a nanny state sympathizer when they make bold statements like this.
